there has to be atleast one elder here who was given the annual meeting recording, unless it's in some sealed box where every elder in the congregation has 1 key and all must open it at once, assuring nobody opened it prior to the day.

Agape at work -how?

the essence of the christian congregation was the enlightenment of society by preaching (refer to jesus words 'you are the light') and the beautifying of society by acts of love, helpage that have positive impact on peoples lives (see good samaritan or james' words of the faith without action is dead).

why is the wts obstined at not doings acts of helpage?

even those within the congration especially in africa, no corporate social responsibility.

Amen to that. It's between an individual and God, not between a person and a bunch of elders or rules made by people in America.

I think jws use agape to get out of actually having to do things. Agape I love you in principle but not in action. They also offer you agape as a polite was of saying, "I disagree with you and find you offensive, but the bible says I have to love you." Until you say something 'apostate', that is.

Do jws complain more than normal people?

i'm a jw, and i have several bills to pay.

me: "oh my goodness, i have so many bills, it's ridiculous!

i have car rego, phone bill, electricity bill, rent...it's terrible!

Me now I'm not a jw: "Got car rego, phone bill, rent, and the electricity bill came today. Well, better get them in order." Result: I pay the bills.

Jw gets sick: aw I feel awful, won't be able to go to the meeting, this illness is sooo hard, we need the new system, I don't know how much longer I can go on...

Non jw gets sick: well, I better rest until I'm better, make arrangements to get things done.

Notice how a jw will whinge and whine, while a non jw is more likely just to get on with it or take it as part of life and deal with it?

WT Policy on Deceased Pet Remains

we will be putting our beloved pet of 13 years to rest soon.

is there a wt policy, written or unwritten on what could be done with the ashes after cremation?

i assume it's basically the same for pets as with humans but i'm not real clear on what that is.

However you honour your pet's remains is entirely up to you. It is no one's business, jw or otherwise. Do what you feel is best for you. I honour my deceased birds with burial in the garden, and my cats by keeping photos.

Talk out loud in public places...new preaching method? And go bags..

i have been told of two things i had not heard of before.. one is a new preaching method, going to public places in a group e.g.

a cafe, and then talking of the topic quite loudly, for example maybe studying a watchtower or a chapter in a publication.

the idea being that people listen in and enquire etc etc.

We've had those go bags in Australia for about 6 years now. I think it's because 1. Australia is a disaster prone country and the org doesn't want to be feeding heaps of jws washed out of their houses, and 2, it keeps the people expecting Armageddon and therefore fearful. "they're really getting us ready for the end!" Said jws in awed tones.

What happened in 97-98 to reduce the increase?

According to a bit of a survey I took on JWN, those who left over the 1995 thing took up to 2000 to actually grasp it and fade. Some left earlier in 95, 96, but ty were out by 2000 at the latest. I'd post the thread I started on it if I wasn't using my phone n knew how to copy n paste links on this contraption.

Literature carts are the cruisiest way to preach ever - photo attached

it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.

in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.

i could not work out who were the jws attending them.

Funnily enough, I don't think it will. They'll just be like any religious group with a bunch of pamphlets in a university cafeteria: people will just walk on past. In western countries where these things are set up most people already just turn jws away from their doors. The territory has been saturated.
